Review: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World by Bryan Lee O’Malley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So the title of the film came from this book, huh…

Well, that’s just fine, because this book was fantastic!!! Not just because this is Scott vs. Lucas Lee, a conceited pro-skateboarder turned actor, but because there are pieces of information here never covered in the film before. Side stories and a few glances at Scott back before. It just adds to the enjoyment of what I know.

I enjoy the art, sometimes cutesy, sometimes a contemporary, updated graphic novel appeal. All in full color…

The bonus at the end of the book: It’s so much fun for me, because these are things that I’ve not seen before, which means more new. There is a blue, black, and white 8-page story called Monica Beetle…which is That 70s Show meets Scott Pilgrim. Then there are more alternate cover art as well as character concepts from the Scott Pilgrim series. All of which brings this to another step above the basic story.

Still want to color in those black and whites.

Definitely a good read.
