Spider-Gwen, Vol. 0: Most Wanted? by Jason Latour
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is a tough one to review, because I liked it so much! I can easily be won over with an alternate story with characters I love so much. Gwen and Peter is no exception! I could read this all day every day.
That being said, I had to take off stars. The learning curve with this one is GREAT! Thanks to cartoons and movies and some slight comic/graphic novel reads, I knew the world of Peter Parker. I knew the story of Peter and Gwen. I knew The Vulture, King Pin, Matt Murdoch/Daredevil, etc…
But right at the beginning, I felt like I was walking in on the middle of a movie. I’m asking things like “Who’s that guy?” and “What happened there? When did I miss it?” And it was difficult to keep up…
And while I do have knowledge of Daredevil and King Pin, thanks to Netflix, I DID NOT LIKE him working as King Pin’s lawyer. UGH! Which….has got to be part of the AU…I hope!
Once the story progressed enough to where it felt like I had the information to make it work, it was great! I LOVED Mary jane and Gwen knowing each other. And Le Chat Noir…and Gwen’s father…Aunt May and Uncle Ben…so great!
Which is why I am so torn…why I hate giving three stars.
*A JANU-RANDOM READ* Sorta feel like I’m cheating on this year’s book count by reading all these graphic novels I got for Christmas…
