FOUR AND A HALF STARS!
Jessie? Colin? Jessie? Colin? Just pick one of them already!
That’s me screaming at the book starting about halfway through.
Blaire is a PI. She detectives for a living. Her business? Finding out if a spouse is cheating, getting the proof if true, and trying to make life right for so many.
Well, one day, Jessie Beckett’s wife decides she wants her almost ex husband to stay with her. So she’s looking for evidence of Jessie cheating. More so she could blackmail him into staying rather than divorcing. What she doesn’t know is that to Jessie, Blaire is the one who got away.
So where does Colin fit into all of this? He’s Jessie’s BFF. Vanessa…or was it Victoria… I don’t know. I hated Jessie’s wife so I really didn’t bother to remember her name. Anyway, he’s her brother. And he decides, with a flop of his man-bun, that he’s going to help Blaire into Jessie’s pants. Until he decided to try to keep her for himself.
What a twisty fun ride this was!!! Not only did Jessie and Blaire have chemistry, Blaire was so determined she didn;’t know what she wanted, and Colin was fantastic at playing Devil’s adovate! I always know what to expect in a ROMCOM and even then, this one kept me on my toes.
The bonus feature for this book was that IAN HUNTER from The Matchmaker’s Playbook (series!!! WHICH I LOVED!!!) is Blaire’s brother…so that little crossed brought about a happy squeal. So there was a familiar piece to it.
Now by the end of the book, I wondered how Blaire was going to choose one man and whether she could/would/should get any proof against Jessie…whether she would ruin him or love him or the fallout of making a different choice…
I love ROMCOMS! I LOVE just about every book by Rachel Van Dyken!!! It’s not really fair, because I knew I’d probably love it from the first word. But, still, I LOVED THIS BOOK! I cannot wait for the second one in SEPTEMBER!!! (Why so long?!?!?! UGH. I little to no patience for these things. LoL!)
So yes, I rec this for anyone looking for a fast, fun romcom. I cannot rec this one enough.
